Tips and Ideas
1.
Prime Real Estate: No, we're not talking about that fantasy 12-acre lot overlooking the ocean and mountains (unfortunately) we're talking about the prime real estate in your home. These are the areas that are easy to reach and easy to see (i.e., top desk drawer closest to your seat, eye-level shelf in the refrigerator, the spot directly in front of the door in your closet, etc.). Be sure to save these places only for the items that you will use constantly and to which you will need immediate access. Unless you need your three-hole punch on a daily basis, it is better to store it away from the prime real estate location in your office like maybe the bottom drawer or closet. Reserve your easy-access place for items you need everyday (i.e., pens, pencils, stapler, letter opener, note pads, etc.).
2.
Closet: Keep your clothes easy to reach by rotating your seasonal items. With warmer weather finally coming around, store your winter items in a mildew-proof container somewhere else in your house OR put your winter clothes in the hard-to-reach part of your closet. This way, your warm-weather clothes are now taking up the prime real estate section in your closet.
3.
Home Office: Somewhere underneath the baby's bottle, the skateboard, and the drill gun lies an office. The first, small step here is to remove everything from the space that doesn't belong. Next, clear away everything from your desk, except that which you are immediately working on. The final small step for your office is to file your incoming paperwork. Keeping papers under control can do wonders for keeping your office organized, while assuring your own peace of mind.
4.
Bathroom: Do we really need 15 shampoos, 38 conditioners, and 22 bodywashes in the shower all at the same time? Of course not. Clear out the clutter of your shower by getting rid of that bottle of body exfoliant that hasn't been touched
since you put in there six months ago. While the seven bars of soap are pretty, you can only use one at a time. Store the rest for a later date. It's time to replace that razor too. Sifting through four of them before finding the new one is wasting your precious time. Make sure everyone who has a razor in the shower has only one, and that one is new. Those are enough baby steps for your bathroom for now.
5.
Living Room: Can't find the couch? Those newspapers have got to go! If you simply can't throw them away, get a storage bin (as small one) to keep them in. Once it is full, empty those old papers…into the trash. Always losing the remote? It needs a home. One idea is to keep it in a remote control box on the coffee table. Another way to easily locate it “besides grabbing it out of the Mr.'s hand “ is to attach the soft side of a Velcro strip to the back of the remote, and the other strip of the Velcro to a table, chair, wall, etc. After watching TV, place the remote back of the strip of Velcro so the next viewer can find it easily.
